| What is Lakes Area Citizen Corps?
A component of the President’s USA Freedom Corps, Citizen Corps creates opportunities for individuals to volunteer in their local community. The
Lakes Area Citizen Corps is a way to get people involved in our
community and make Lake Shetek and Lake Sarah safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to all types of disasters. Citizen Corps is about engaging individuals through education, training, and volunteer service.
The Murray County Emergency Management serves as the host agency for the
our Citizen Corps. Through this partnership, the associated Citizen
Corps programs, such as the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Program, Neighborhood Watch, Medical Reserve Corps provide important training and skill development opportunities for all citizens, businesses, and community groups on emergency preparedness and public safety.
